Substance Abuse Counselor - Approved Trainee

The Substance Abuse Counselor provides documented individual and group clinical services and case management to clients with substance abuse, mental health, or dual diagnosis problems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides quality clinical services and case management to assigned clients in accordance with the Company’s clinical design and in compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provides group treatment to clients using Company curriculum and following group facilitation protocol as trained.
  • Performs intake assessments and completes all required documentation for services as required by ABP  and all licensing, accreditation, and regulatory bodies within established time frames.
  • Demonstrates respect for supervisors, co-workers, County employees, visitors, and clients.
  • Consistently arrives for work on time and adheres to the program’s attendance policies.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies when responding to inquiries for client information.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care of the clients and the use of the facility property.
  • Develops, implements, and revises individual treatment plans for assigned clients in established time frames with the participation of the client.
  • Completes all outcome measurement tools as required by the Company, licensing, and payers in required time frames.
  • Refers clients to appropriate services in the community as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of interpersonal skills to interact with clients, staff, families, other service providers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.  
  • Attends regularly scheduled individual/group supervision and participates in regular staff and team meetings.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team treatment planning, case review, and case conferences.
  • Maintains comprehensive current clinical skills, competencies, licensure, and certification as required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and complete duties in the allotted time.
  • Assists with crisis management and other emergencies as needed.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of the program’s emergency preparedness plan and emergency procedures.
  • Participates in all mandatory training and attends in-service training as required.
  • Assists in training newly hired clinicians under the direction of the Program Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Maryland CAC or CSC license or ADT
  • Licensed or Certified Social Worker (LCSW-C) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-AD) and/or approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
