CAD Technician/3-D Modeler

Fechko Excavating, LLC is a full-service professional survey, commercial excavating & paving company which specializes in performing site work and underground utilities for municipalities, commercial developments, educational and healthcare facilities, and residential subdivisions.

This is an opportunity for a qualified candidate to work on a wide variety of construction industry projects throughout the local area while expanding their technical skills and experience in a rapid growth and high demand sector of the industry. The Drafting Technician will:

• Produce detailed and precise 3D surface models from 2D plans and specifications for the construction of large scale site and roadway improvement projects via GPS controlled heavy equipment.

• Produce Digital Terrain Model (DTM), Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN), Alignment and Sections files to evaluate construction scopes and prepare projects for active construction.

• Work collaboratively with the firm’s estimating and project management personnel to provide assistance and other CADD related deliverables needed to prepare project cost estimates, construction sequencing plans, value engineering evaluations.

• Work collaboratively with the firm’s survey department to produce coordinate files, road alignments, topographical survey evaluations and other deliverables in support of survey and construction field operations.

• Interface with engineering firms, developers, authorities and other project stakeholders to resolve issues during the project life cycle.

• Manage and maintain file databases.

Preferred Qualifications

• GPS Surveying/GPS Assisted Heavy Equipment setup and file creation.

• Maintenance and set-up of GPS equipment in the field.

• Construction Layout and Surveying Heavy Highway, Subdivision, & Utility Projects.

• Working knowledge of field surveying methods and equipment including Data Collectors, Total Stations, and Robotics & GPS Instruments.

• Carlson Civil AutoCAD Software experience.

• Project setup and utility layout utilizing CAD Software.

• Superior Plan reading ability.

• Knowledge of GPS machine control (Trimble & Topcon)

• Machine Control Model Building.
