Grant Writing Intern

Position Title: Grant Writing Intern
Location: Remote 
Commitment: Minimum 8-10 hours per week, flexible scheduling

About MedicZero

MedicZero is a New Jersey-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing health outcome inequities and increasing survival rates from cardiac arrest and other emergencies. We provide free CPR, AED, and emergency medical trainings to disadvantaged communities. To date, we have trained over 10,000 individuals and are expanding rapidly through strategic community partnerships and fundraising initiatives.

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Grant Writing Intern to support MedicZero’s fundraising and development efforts. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in nonprofit development, public health, or community service. You will work closely with our grant team to research funding opportunities, draft compelling grant proposals, and support the grant application process for local, state, federal, and private foundation grants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify relevant grants aligned with MedicZero’s mission and initiatives
  • Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications
  • Develop supporting documents for grant applications (e.g., budgets, organizational summaries, project descriptions)
  • Maintain accurate records of deadlines, submissions, and grant outcomes using our grant tracking system
  • Collaborate with department leads to gather relevant program data and metrics for proposals
  • Assist with creating boilerplate language and templates for use in future submissions
  • Stay informed on trends in grantmaking and funding priorities within public health, emergency response, and health equity sectors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information clearly
  • Familiarity with public health, nonprofit work, or grant writing (preferred, not required)
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to meet deadlines independently
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
  • Commitment to health equity and MedicZero’s mission
