
Junior Project Engineer
Job description
Working with our structural steel and concrete department reporting to the Superintendent and Project manager to supply construction project with Field/Project Operations (Entry-level). This position is located on-site in the jobsite trailer in Downtown Los Angeles. This is a temporary, contract position from April -July (4 mos), with up to 2 possible monthly extensions. Excellent for a recent grad or grad student to experience the construction site for the first time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Able to handle and organize an abundant amount of drawings, plans, and printing for this project. (No editing of the plans required).
- Coordinate onsite services and vendors for the team (i.e. cleaning, catering, deliveries, office supplies, electricity, water, handy-man services)
- Keep extensive logs of RFI, Field RFIs, Change Orders, work tickets
- Some IT support to superintendents, field team, or office working with corporate IT
- Assist with on-boarding of new employees, such as intake forms, gathering pertinent information
- Coordinate job site visitors, deliveries and vendors
- Be proactive about cleaning and picking up around the trailer
- Handle intense deadlines for purchasing of materials/supplies
- Assist superintendent with inspection requests, T&M tickets,
- Submit labor request with local hall
- Attend weekly operations meeting and follow up with meeting minutes.
- Create operations logs and track daily
- You must have a reliable form of transportation to get to jobsite.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years working in a similar role for construction sites working with either the GC or subcontractor, internships a plus
- Degree is a plus: Civil, Structural, Construction Management
- Has great energy and can work well under-pressure in a demanding environment.
- Extremely Organized with cloud/drive based filing systems
- comfortable in the construction industry setting
- Familiar with the computer, printer, and Excel
- Preferred: Civil/Structural/Construction Management degree
- Preferred: Microsoft Office proficient, especially Excel
- Preferred: Bluebeam knowledge
- Preferred: AutoCAD
- Required: OSHA 10 (company will pay for this)
MORE DETAILS ABOUT POSITION/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Eligible to work in the U.S. (we are NOT able to sponsor Visas)
- On-site Monday through Friday, varying between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Masters students must be able to handle FT position within the noted business hours.
- Overtime or weekend work on occasion, but with planned notice
- Able to pass a background check (some projects require a drug test)
- Start-Date approx. October/November 2024.
- Project/Field Engineer will work on-site in the trailer
- You will need proper PPE, such as boots. All else will be provided.
- Excellent entry-level opportunity positioned for gaining valuable construction/project management experience.
- There are currently no plans to house this person, or provide relocation assistance.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $25-28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
