Research Assistant / Clinical Research Coordinator– Endocrine Surgery Research Program
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our collaborative and fast-paced endocrine surgery research team. This role is ideal for individuals interested in translational medicine, endocrine diseases, and surgical research, and offers hands-on experience in both clinical and laboratory settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Patient Screening & Consent:
- Review patient medical records to identify candidates eligible for enrollment in the Endocrine Tissue Bank.
- Coordinate and conduct informed consent discussions with patients, often prior to surgery.

Tissue & Blood Sample Coordination:
- Collaborate with physician-researchers, operating room staff, surgeons, and pathologists to ensure proper collection of surgical tissue and blood samples in accordance with study protocols.
- Facilitate seamless communication among clinical and research teams to optimize biospecimen collection.

Clinical Data Management:
- Enter and manage data in the Endocrine Surgery Database, which includes comprehensive information on all endocrine surgeries performed at the institution, postoperative outcomes, and disease characteristics.
- Maintain data integrity and support data queries for ongoing studies and publications.

Wet Lab Research & Experimental Support: (Optional)
- Contribute to preclinical studies evaluating novel therapies for thyroid carcinomas.
- Perform wet lab techniques, including but not limited to:
- Cell culture, transfection, and treatment assays.
- Molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
- Mouse model experiments, including animal handling, dosing, tissue harvesting, and tumor monitoring in compliance with IACUC protocols.

Scholarly Activities:
- Participate in manuscript preparation and data analysis.
- Opportunity to present research findings at national conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, public health, or a related field.
- 2-year minimum work requirementÂ
- Previous experience in:
- Clinical research or patient-facing roles.
- Cell culture and molecular biology techniques.(Optional)
- Animal research, including handling and in vivo experiments. (Optional)
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, clinicians, and researchers.
- Passion for translational research and interest in pursuing graduate or medical education is a plus.
