Speech and Language Pathologist

POSITION:  Speech and Language Pathologist 

 

REPORTS TO:  Director of Pupil Services, Principal
 

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Organizes and conducts appropriate therapy programs for the District to facilitate rehabilitation and adaptation and directs student/patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.

The position is part of a 66.03 agreement with other local districts.
 

LICENSURE REQUIRED:  Valid and appropriate DPI license
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Student Services:

  • Provide therapy services in a school-based setting, in alignment with student programming, IEP, and Section 504 goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and develop treatment plans based on subjective and objective data.
  • Develop, implement and monitor IEP and therapy services to meet state and federal compliance requirements.
  • Provide written support and documentation to support School Based Services (SBS) billing and Medicaid Administrative Claiming (MAC.)
  • Work among a multidisciplinary team to enhance student outcomes.
  • Work with all student ages and travel between school buildings within the District

Leadership:

  • Recommend new practices or policies that align the District with best practices and State and Federal law.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration.

  • Establish and maintain relationships to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret school board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local mandates concerning equity and access to services and programming for students. 
  • Grow the understanding of cultural competency and respect for diversity. 
  • Comply with federal, state, local, and district mandates concerning emergency procedures.
     

Miscellaneous:

  • Keep abreast of changes and development in the profession by attending professional 
    meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current educational research and practices.
  • Represent the Spooner community with integrity when working with outside agencies such as the police, Social Services, Protective Services, Health Department, Fire Department, local government and health organizations, educational institutions, etc.
  • Perform various tasks as may be assigned by the administration.

Licensing: Wisconsin Licensure in Speech and Language (1820)

Requirements: Masters Degree and Licensure

Salary: Based on credentials and experience
