Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Graduate)
Overview of Department:
NYCT provides safe, efficient, and reliable service to nearly 6 million customers a day. Our Field Operations team includes train operators and conductors, train service supervisors, tower operators, dispatchers, and many others who keep the trains moving. The team at the Rail Control Center, the nerve center of our system, monitors service around the clock, communicates, and responds to disruptions and major incidents, to keep the trains running on schedule. We operate a fleet of more than 6,400 revenue cars, along with hundreds of pieces of work equipment, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The intern will help modernized our internal systems and applications by creating database applications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative tasks assigned by management.
• Help with the filing of internal paperwork and log entry.
• Perform General Data Entry in Excel and other applications.
• Assist in the creation of “Standard Operation Procedures” for departmental functions.
• Update any additional manuals as per Management/System Operator instructions.
• Handle IT-related functions.
• Knowledge of applications (such as Access, Excel, Power Apps, and Power Automate, and Microsoft 365)
• Knowledge of automating tasks, report creation, or willingness to learn.
• Assist in creating database applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data related issues.
• Assist in the cleaning and formatting of data in Excel or other applications.
• Analyze and validate data errors in internal systems.
Projects:
- Record retention out files that would be sent out to storage.
- Work on developing applications for the dept.
- Assist in creating intern dashboards using Power BI
Required Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of database structures and reporting tool.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft applications. PowerApps, Power BI.
- Knowledge of visualization techniques and creating reports
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
Required Education:
- Matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Data Science, Information systems, Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
