Accounting Intern

YUM! is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Intern to join our Strategic International Companies (SIC) team and gain valuable hands-on experience in the accounting field. This is a fantastic opportunity for students or recent graduates to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, supporting a range of accounting activities for our global operations.

Where: Louisville, KY (Hybrid work environment)

Pay: Hourly pay for interns ranges from $18-$28 per hour, depending on skills, experience, and year in school.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Accounting Intern, you will work closely with our senior accounting team, and your tasks will include:

  • Period Close Support: Assist in the preparation of period close journal entries for both US and local GAAP for various legal entities. Reconcile cash and various accounts for some of the smaller SIC entities. Assist in ensuring the proper revaluation of ending balances to accurately reflect foreign exchange (FX) exposure based on appropriate functional currencies.
  • Intercompany Loan Activity: Help maintain accurate accounting records related to intercompany loan activity. Collaborate with the Treasury team to execute, renew, and settle loans efficiently.
  • Consolidation, Statutory Accounts & Tax Returns: Support the completion of consolidated legal entity accounts, helping to meet statutory requirements in multiple territories. Assist with the preparation of tax returns for various jurisdictions.
  • Assist with the tax and control department in preparing journal entries for various special projects.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with focus in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Ideally looking for longer than 1 year commitment)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of accounting software is a plus
