Director of Social Work Internship Program

Position Title:                  Director of Social Work Internship Program

Reports To:                      Vice President of Programs

Status:                              Regular, Part-Time (16-20 hours), Non-Exempt

Grade Level:                    Grade Level 12

Salary:                              $27.00 per hour, plus generous PTO and benefits package

Position Summary:        

  • Provides oversight for the day-to-day operations of the Social Work Internship Program; supervise social work student interns, collaborate with School of Social Work college institutions, complete competency learning evaluations, supports program activities, directs services, and works collaboratively with other agency departments and external partners. Provide license supervision for staff who have recently earned their social work licenses or provisional license.

Responsibilities:

  • Submit required Field Instruction paperwork in accordance with school of Social Work program deadlines and time frames.
  • Complete comprehensive midterm and final evaluations of social work competencies per social work accreditation guidelines.
  • Conduct required onsite or virtual field faculty site visits.
  • Conduct group and individual supervision sessions.
  • Conduct orientation sessions to enroll and on-board social work interns to Neighborhood House.
  • Conduct interviews with social work intern prospects to determine appropriate placement within agency programs.
  • Maintain complete files on all interns, learning contracts and school forms.
  • Attend required Field Instructor trainings to comply with Social Work Field Instructor certification requirements.
  • Maintain professional and collaborative communication with School of Social Work Field Faculty.
  • Support agency program staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for social work interns to thrive and gain competencies.
  • Cultivate existing relationships with the School of Social work institutions.
  • Ethically and professionally perform all work in accordance with Neighborhood House policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all program participants in accordance with data privacy/ethical laws, standards and policies.
  • Provide license supervision for staff who have recently earned their social work licenses or provisional licenses.
  • Analyze statistical data, program evaluation results to assess effectiveness of programs in achieving results.
  • Monitor and manage program budget and resources to meet financial targets of the organization.
  • Implement program evaluation tools and track progress using relevant database(s) like Better Impact.
  • Participate in the design and active fulfillment of Neighborhood House Logic Model goals as well as the Social Work Internship Program goals.
  • Prepare program reports as instructed by Manager/Director.
  • Attend and participate in departmental, agency and external meetings, trainings, committees and events as required.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Volunteer Engagement regarding onboarding and internship opportunities.
  • Explore within the various Neighborhood House Programs, increased opportunities for direct client contact or shadowing chances toward expanding SW internship involvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work plus 3 years of experience in the social work field. Licensed LSW.
  • Recognized as a Minnesota Board of Social Work Certified Supervisor or be willing to be trained.
  • Experience providing supervision to interns and/or licensed social workers.
  • Completed or working toward supervised practice requirement and 30 hours of training in supervision.
  • Team player with ability to work with many different agency programs and diverse staff
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse socio-economic, racial and cultural backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of racial equity and social justice issues relevant to the communities we serve.
  • Working knowledge of immigrant/refugee trends and needs, self-sufficiency issues and community resources.
