Technology and Maker Services Specialist

The Technology and Maker Services Specialist is key to our guests’ experiences at the library. As the person our guests go to for assistance at our Technology Desk and in our Maker Studio, you make sure they get what they need, providing solutions and a wonderful user experience. You must love working with people, exhibit patience, and enjoy problem solving.
You’ll provide an amazing library experience to each guest by:
- Helping them be successful in using computers, software, equipment, and their own devices by providing information and basic instruction.
- Assisting them in the Maker Studio with their DIY projects and troubleshooting problems.
- Planning and presenting Maker and Technology classes
- Providing recommendations of devices, equipment, kits, and technology they’ll enjoy.
- Booking computers, equipment, and tech help.
- Troubleshooting equipment and assisting in making sure everything is working correctly so our guests have a seamless experience.

Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Teaching experience preferred
- At least two years of work experience with the public
- At least two years' experience using computers in a work or educational environment
- Proficiency in using computers and other devices, including smartphones and tablets
- Reliable transportation

Alternating Thursdays and weekends
Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sundays 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Schedule B:
Tuesday 4 p.m. -9 p.m.
Wednesday 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Thursday 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Alternating Fridays and weekends
Friday 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sundays 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The salary range is $20.28 - $23.32 DOQ and averages 25 hours per week. Benefits include IMRF pension plan, and paid time off (sick, vacation and personal).This is a year-round, part-time position.
