Summer Intern

The Heritage Winooski Mill Museum is seeking an enthusiastic intern for Summer 2025 with an interest in community art and history. The intern will support museum staff with a variety of tasks such as assisting with educational workshops and promoting special events. The intern will gain exposure to a wide array of museum activities and provide support for multiple summer outreach programs. They will assist with community art activities at French Heritage Day, the Winooski Fiber Fair, and Natural Dye workshops with both children and adults. The intern will also be asked to do some light research work on topics relating to museum exhibitions in development. The intern will be expected to write at least one article about their experience or a topic based on their research. 

The position will include working onsite at the Heritage Winooski Mill Museum (accessible by public transport) as well as independent work completed virtually. 

Students with an interest in museum work, historic research, art education, community work, or textile crafts are encouraged to apply. Other qualifications include: attention to detail, willingness to take on new challenges, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work independently and successfully with little supervision, reliable, and punctual. 

The internship will last 13 weeks beginning in June and run through the end of August. Candidates must be able to work an average of 9 hours per week for a total of 115 work hours over the course of the internship. Ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule and have the availability to participate in occasional weekend and evening events. A stipend of $1840 is available upon completion of this internship. There is a possibility to extend the internship into the fall semester.
