Lead House Monitor

 

Purpose of Position 

The Lead House Monitor supports residential program teams by providing onsite supervision of house monitors and ensuring participant safety, security, and compliance. This position plays a critical role in fostering a safe and supportive residential environment. 

 SUMMARY OF DUTIES  

(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following) 

 Facility Safety and Security 

Document participants’ arrivals, departures, and onsite activities. 

Conduct property walkthroughs and monitor safety video equipment to identify potential risks. 

Observe participants and guests on the property to ensure adherence to guidelines. 

Conduct safety searches and report concerns to appropriate staff promptly. 

Document and report incidents, including medical emergencies, severe weather concerns, facility issues, and participant compliance. 

Participant Support 

Provide access to and document receipt of participant medications according to guidelines. 

Administer, report, and document urinalysis and breathalyzer tests as needed. 

Supervise participant and guest activities, entries, and exits. 

Maintain an inventory of participant supplies and coordinate weekly distributions. 

Ensure living spaces are clean and ready for move-in with the support of the Transitional Support Specialist and House Monitors. 

Log participant belongings during move-in and move-out processes. 

Administrative Duties 

Answer facility phone calls and redirect as necessary. 

Attend all house monitor meetings and team meetings. 

Act as a member of the on-call team and rotation. 

 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Supervise and support house monitors in daily activities. 

Develop and manage monthly schedules, approving shift changes and time-off requests. 

Train and orient new house monitors. 

Conduct individual meetings for training, staff development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions. 

Oversee the preparation of participant units, ensuring they meet cleanliness and safety standards. 

Handle on-call responsibilities, assist during crises, and coordinate with emergency personnel when needed. 

Resolve conflicts among participants and staff. 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

Education 

High School Diploma/GED/HiSet required. 

Experience 

Minimum of 2 years of work experience required. 

Criminal justice experience preferred. 

Knowledge and Abilities 

Strong leadership skills and a passion for supporting women in recovery from substance use and criminal justice involvement. 

Familiarity with or willingness to learn trauma-informed care principles, mental health, and substance use disorders. 

Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage conflicts effectively. 

Strong interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable demeanor. 

Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet use. 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Additional Requirements 

Must not be under supervision with Probation or Parole. 

Possess a valid Class E driver’s license or be willing to obtain one within 1 month of hire. 

Have a safe driving record and ability to operate a vehicle and transport participants as required. 

Provide a Motor Vehicle Record and valid car insurance for personal vehicle yearly or as needed. 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS 

Maintain regular communication with the Transition Support Specialist, House Operations Manager, and Director of Programs. 

Close collaboration with the Manager of Case Management Services and case managers.  

Close collaboration with the Emotional Wellness Team. 

Work closely with HR and the Organizational Development Specialist. 

Supervise and support house monitors while interacting daily with program participants. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Adaptability to a dynamic work environment while prioritizing personal and team well-being. 

Comfortable working in an environment with moderate noise levels and frequent interruptions. 

Potential for moderate eye strain due to documentation and computer work. 

Physical stamina to perform tasks that may include walking, stair climbing, moderate pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, bending, and lifting. 

Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
