IASourceLink Program Assistant

DESCRIPTION
Through its programs, the University of Northern Iowa John PappaJohn Entrepreneurial Center (UNI JPEC) empowers and provides tools for small business owners. One of these programs, IASourceLink, focuses on carrying out this mission across the entire state. The IASourceLink website is a one-stop-shop for entrepreneurs, whether they are looking to start, fund, grow, or even exit their business. It offers free online webinars and step-by-step guides, helpful referrals to nearly 400 partners who provide free business assistance, and a centralized database of over 450 Iowa business licenses.
IASourceLink is looking to hire a student on part-time to complete duties including but not limited to:
- Maintaining IASourceLink’s databases of client and Partner profiles
- Answering questions about Iowa small business resources over the phone and email
- Entering data from client interactions
- Writing blog articles about Iowa small businesses and IASourceLink partners
- Other marketing and communication projects as needed
This is a great role for anyone interested in learning more about small businesses or who has a desire to help people. This position will better develop your organizational, time management, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
A successful candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, organized, motivated, punctual, and a critical thinker. They have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Also, they must be able to work with minimal supervision and thrive in a team environment. Preference will be given to a sophomore or junior who will be able to make a two to three year commitment to the position and are able to work in the summer. Business, communications, or marketing majors are preferred. Hours are flexible. Good academic standing is required.
