ABOUT HandsOn Greater Phoenix: 

For nearly 30 years, HandsOn Greater Phoenix has worked with nonprofits, Title I schools, neighborhood associations and government entities to assess and meet the volunteer needs of the Greater Phoenix area. The HandsOn VISTA program supports members at multiple placement sites across the valley. Our VISTA members enable our community service partners to expand capacity and build infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable resources. HandsOn VISTA members will improve capacity for leading communities during and beyond their terms of service by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to volunteering, civic engagement, and other areas. In addition to the site-specific work of the individual role all of our VISTA members: participate in 2 AmeriCorps of Service, lead projects at 2 HandsOn community service days, attend monthly VISTA team trainings with the other HandsOn VISTA members, and monthly community volunteering project opportunities.

Member Duties : 

Join the City of Phoenix - S’edav Va’aki Museum as a community resource in the heart of Phoenix that is committed to providing engaging educational programs to all ages and backgrounds! 12 out of 14 schools in Phoenix Arizona are Title I Schools (PHX Schools 2025). The successful applicant will help develop positive relationships with nearby school districts and create capacity for increased educational programming for not only local school children but also visitors from around the world. The VISTA member will have active involvement in informal education, program development, business communication, and all elements of volunteer management. You will do this by leading the Cholla Buds pen pal program, the SVM Cipher activity and the Teen Volunteer program, and continue support of our volunteer program by further research into youth-focused recruitment strategies. The future member should have some background in volunteer support. Spanish and/or a knowledge of museums is preferred but not required.
