About Us:

The Boots to Health Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering Veterans by promoting fitness, wellness, and community connection. We offer fitness programs, health education, and personalized coaching services specifically designed for veterans transitioning to civilian life. By addressing both the physical and mental well-being of Veterans, we aim to create sustainable, positive lifestyle changes that foster long-term health and purpose.

Position Overview:

We are currently in need of a Grant Writer to assist in securing funding for Boots to Health Foundation's programs.  Our organization is expanding and we are extending the geographical regions that we service, allowing more Veterans to get the help they need.

This position is perfect for college students, as you will have the opportunity to work virtually and on your own time schedule.  Applicants with experience in Grant Writing, Public Health, Communications, Healthcare Administration, Community Health, Marketing, or any other related field are encouraged to apply. Advanced skills in writing and research are desired.

Position Type:

This is an unpaid volunteer position. 

The minimum hours required for this position are 2-4 hours per week.

 Minimum requirements:

  • Graduate student or alumni with a major in Public Health or related field
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5

Current students: This position could qualify for educational credit for practicum or other required volunteer hours towards your degree.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in researching and identifying potential grant opportunities
  • Conduct thorough research on funding organizations to understand their priorities and requirements
  • Collaborate with team members to gather relevant programmatic information for grant applications
  • Proofread and edit grant proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to guidelines
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and funding agencies/donors during the application process
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills by meeting deadlines for grant applications
  • Cultivate relationships with potential donors through networking events or informational interviews
