Child Protective Services Worker

Crawford County Health & Human Services is recruiting a Child Protective Services Worker

CPS workers receive extra stipend of $50/week in addition to wages.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated individual to join our team as a Child Protective Services (CPS) Professional. CPS Workers play a vital role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and rights of children. In this position, you will assess reports of child abuse and neglect, investigate family dynamics, and make critical decisions regarding the care and protection of vulnerable children. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, a deep sense of empathy, and the ability to work effectively in challenging situations.

Key Responsibilities:

   •   Investigate reports of child abuse and neglect, assessing the safety and risk factors within the child’s environment.

   •   Conduct in-home visits to observe family dynamics and ensure the child’s immediate and ongoing safety.

   •   Collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, and other community resources to gather information and develop comprehensive case plans.

   •   Make recommendations for protective actions or services, such as temporary placement, counseling, or intervention programs, that prioritize the child’s best interests.

   •   Monitor and document case progress, maintaining accurate and confidential records.

   •   Attend and testify in court hearings as needed, advocating for the child’s safety and welfare.

   •   Provide crisis intervention, guidance, and support to families, facilitating resources that promote stability and resilience.

Qualifications:

   •   Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

   •   Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for home visits and court appearances

   •   Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

   •   Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a commitment to ethical and fair decision-making.

   •   Willingness and ability to become a certified Social Worker
