We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure group and help us meet these goals both now and into the future.

Campbell Scientific’s Infrastructure sales team is focused on generating sales for the company by solving our client’s problems through data acquisition system design, product recommendations, and services; allowing the customer to be more efficient, productive, save money, and make the highest quality measurements possible. A position as a Technical Sales Engineer at Campbell Scientific requires technical proficiency in data acquisition system design coupled with an ability to work in a fun, problem-solving, customer-facing role. Internally, the Technical Sales Engineer works with a team of professionals from a variety of disciplines to generate realistic and growing sales plans and execute those plans to meet growth goals for the company, identify new customers/partners/OEMs in existing or new market segments.

What You Will Work On

The Infrastructure sales team is focused on providing the best measurement solutions for monitoring the structure and integrity of dams, mining operations, buildings, bridges, as well as a variety of other infrastructure projects by utilizing Campbell Scientific’s measurement solutions (hardware and software) to gather geotechnical and infrastructure data. Campbell Scientific data acquisition systems are used around the world to gain a better understanding of hazards and to monitor those hazards for the mitigation of risk and to ensure the safety of the public against catastrophic infrastructure failure.

The Technical Sales Engineer will work to expand the sales of Campbell Scientific’s Infrastructure market by generating new business and ensuring growth of existing customer accounts. The successful candidate for this role will assess potential applications of Campbell Scientific products and services and offer solutions that meet customer needs, while educating customers and communicating customer feedback for future product development. This role will involve utilizing technical knowledge of Campbell Scientific products and services to support and build sales, while focusing on the following responsibilities:

  • Actively grow Campbell Scientific sales revenue with our infrastructure clients.
  • Leverage background and contacts within the industry to develop business and match our solutions to customer needs, while managing key customer accounts.
  • Respond to, and follow up on, requests for quotes and product information, while educating customers on our products and solutions.
  • Configure and quote complex data acquisition systems and multi-station networked solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Recruit and strengthen Value-Added Resellers (VAR’s) and Integrators in alignment with the infrastructure market partner strategy.
  • Contribute to the guidance of internal product development, marketing, and sales plans based on market needs.
  • Recognize and report on changes in the market and obtain feedback from customers to achieve and maintain competitive products and services.
  • Travel up to 20 – 25% for customer visits.

What We’re Looking For

  • Completion of related post-secondary education in:
    • Sciences (examples: Geology, Geoscience, Electronics, Computer Science)
    • Engineering (examples: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil)
    • Technology (examples: Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Construction Management)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the sales or use of geotechnical or structural monitoring equipment.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills, driven to increase sales.
  • A strong growth mindset along with a high level of emotional intelligence (EQ).

  • Someone who places importance on working hard, having fun, and building great relationships with your peers.
  • Strong Assets Include:
    • Experience in mining, dams, or structural health monitoring.
    • Familiarity with common infrastructure instrumentation (strain gauges, piezometers, vibrating wire sensors etc.), computer programming concepts and basic electrical circuits.
    • Experience with electronic remote automated measurement systems, sensors, peripherals, and telecommunications equipment.
    • Experience with Campbell Scientific dataloggers or other measurement devices including remote terminal units and programmable logic controllers.

Work Environment 

This is primarily an office environment, with travel up to 20 - 25% on customer visits.

Physical Requirements  

Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 lbs. walking up and down stairs; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; extended walking while in the field.
