
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists OTR with screenings, assessments, and occupational therapy services
- Conducts training in activities of daily living, vocational-educational, and community learning skills
- Develops and facilitates social/leisure time and/or therapeutic groups
- Assists participants in developing essential skills for independent living, including utilizing local resources, managing a household, organizing time effectively, cooking and understanding nutrition, making informed decisions, and employing suitable social skills
- May accompany participants on community outings and/or to medical appointments
- Appropriately collaborates with OTR regarding participant progression
- Documents participant progress toward meeting established goals and objectives and communicates with other healthcare professionals as needed
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program
- Licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of practice
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting
- Experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) preferred
