Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 6,000 TK-College students across 29 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW
We are interested in hiring a professional Guitar Instructor to join The Forest Team (BGCP's Redwood City Clubhouse). The ultimate goal will be recording and performing live musicals as and when needed. Our Guitar Instructor will be responsible for recording sessions with young musicians and singers. You will be responsible for attending rehearsals in the recording studios per the work schedules. Our Music Instructor should be able to differentiate between guitars (and additional instruments), such as acoustic, electric, classic, or bass. In addition to this, you are required to develop tracks as and when required.
Our Guitar Instructor should respond to feedback positively, follow instructions accordingly, and possess exceptional presentation and amazing communication skills. You should be able to engage live audiences with your musical talent, including, but not limited to, a band and a solo.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach introductory guitar and basic music theory to youth participants.
- Supervise groups of up to 10 members, ages 12-18..
- Performing live as well as recording
- Developing new tracks and sound
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for students.
- Follow a structured curriculum while adapting to the needs of the students.
- Foster a fun, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Prepare to have members prepare for 3 events : Forest Feast , Youth of the Year, & Summer Showcase
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Classical Music, or a relevant field is preferred
- Work experience as a Musician with a specialization in guitar or a similar role in the Media Industry
- Recordings of previously composed music
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of various musical genres
- Ability to play various types of music
- Experience working with different types of guitars
- Great presentation skills
- Ability to engage the audience professionally
- Great communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to take feedback and improve on the same
- Amazing time management skills
- Ability to manage and conduct guitar maintenance regularly
- Phenomenal ability to learn new things and enhance musical abilities

LOCATION
The Forest Team (BGCP's Redwood City Clubhouse)
WORK SCHEDULE
- Academic School Year August - May: Wednesday - Saturday (daily) up to 22 hours a week from 3:00pm - 8:00pm
- Summer June - July six week: Monday-Thursday (daily) up to 22 hours a week from 3:00pm - 7:00pm
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Employment Status: Part Time-Non Exempt
- Pay Range: $25.00 - $35.00/hour, depending on experience (DOE)

As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) test.
