The Office of School and Adolescent Health (OSAH) provides resources and technical assistance to educational staff, physical and behavioral health professionals, and youth serving community organizations to help them develop sustainable health systems for children and youth in schools and communities. This is accomplished by supporting integrated healthcare services to school-aged youth through school based health centers; improving adolescent behavioral health to reduce the incidence of youth suicide; supporting statewide school nursing and school behavioral health efforts; and promoting Positive Youth Development and youth resiliency.
Why does the job exist?
The Office of School and Adolescent Health (OSAH) Youth Mental Health Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the activities of federal grants along with the coordination and delivery of evidence-based behavioral health services. This role is essential to enhancing the mental and behavioral health services for school and youth serving organizations statewide.
How does it get done?
The position will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating grant requirements and reporting activities as necessary. This role will promote, organize, and facilitate multiple evidence based curriculum along with collecting and analyzing impact data. This role will also be involved in providing resources and technical assistance to schools and youth serving organizations statewide.
Who are the customers?
The position exists to support internal customers in the Public Health Division and the Department of Health who work with youth and youth serving organizations related to school health services. External partners include those youth and youth serving organizations outside of state government that partner with OSAH's vision and mission to support the health and well-being of
adolescents statewide.
Ideal Candidate
1. Background in working with adolescents.
2. Two (2) years experience in facilitation of curriculum to large audiences of all ages
3. Knowledge of virtual and in person delivery of content
4. Proficient in Microsoft office to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
5. Experience in collaboration and partnering with diverse youth serving organizations
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education,
Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related
field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VTD) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (bending, stooping and reaching) and meet numerous deadlines.
