
Student Maintenance Assistant
If you enjoy doing hands on work and taking pride in a job well done, you should explore working with the UWO Facilities Maintenance Department. We are currently taking applications for a Student Maintenance Assistant. This role would perform a variety of tasks including but no limited to: Changing HVAC filters, testing electrical receptacles, checking thermostats, painting, and repairing windows.
No experience is necessary but the ideal candidate will:
- Communicate effectively with supervisor, staff, and coworkers.
- Always exercise good judgment.
- Recognize safety concerns and adhere to safety procedures.
- Have the ability to learn and use maintenance related equipment.
- Have the ability to work independently or part of a group.
Additional qualifications are:
- Must be enrolled as full-time student during the period of employment.
- Must be able to move items weighing 25 pounds.
- Be able to move and position self to work on repairs for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform work in both indoor and outdoor conditions that are distracting and uncomfortable.
- Must be able to utilize proper PPE such as eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and dust mask.
- The ideal candidate will have possessed a valid driver's license for a minimum of 2 years so they may apply for a Vehicle Use Authorization upon hire.
Working hours are Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:00PM but we will work around student's schedules.
