
Training and Administrative Support Intern (PIGP, UNR School of Medicine, Summer '25)

Internship Description:
The Training & Administrative Support Intern will collaborate with the Lab & Safety Training Coordinator to develop and refine training materials. Key tasks may include filming, editing, formatting, and testing training resources to improve accessibility and engagement. The intern will also assist in the creation of a research resource guide, which involves research, data collection, and organizing information.
In addition, the intern will support various administrative functions such as setting up fiscal year tracking spreadsheets, managing event logistics (e.g., guest speakers, seminars), and verifying purchases. Exposure to workplace safety, compliance, and biomedical research administration will provide the intern with valuable, transferable skills applicable to a variety of fields.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Training Material Development: Format and refine training materials, including PowerPoint presentations, videos, PDFs, and written guides
- Content Review and Feedback: Collect feedback from users and colleagues to improve training materials.
- Videography and Editing: Assist with filming and editing videos to update training content and improve visual engagement
- Fiscal Administration: Assist with setting up new fiscal year financial tracking systems and verifying purchase records
- Event Support: Provide logistical support for events, including coordinating guest speakers, seminars, and other departmental functions
Goals and Expectations of the Intern:
- Complete 120 hours of work as an intern (20 hours per week minimum, 6 weeks total)
- Material Improvement: Revise and polish training materials to ensure clear, engaging content for end-users that align with current UNR Med brand
- Technology Integration: Enhance materials with updated videography, animations, and applicable visuals
- Content Organization: Ensure content is organized logically and presented in a user-friendly manner
- Administrative Support: Assist with fiscal tracking and other administrative tasks during down periods
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno after the Spring ‘25 semester
- Students who’ve graduated Spring 2025 or earlier are not eligible for this position
- While the intern will not be responsible for creating scientific content, a basic understanding of biological sciences is preferred to provide context for the materials
- The ideal candidate will be tech-savvy, with strong skills in design, organization, and efficiency
- We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can take initiative, while also being collaborative and a strong team player
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of biological sciences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, iMovie, and other relevant software
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Desired Schedule for Intern:
The desired schedule is between 10am-3pm, Monday through Friday, and we can discuss flexibility between the hours of 8am-5pm on Monday through Friday
PIGP internships require interns to complete a minimum of 120 hours during their internship. It is the intern’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
