Job Description and Duties

This position will be a member of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW) highly collaborative and collegial legal office comprised of natural resources, employment, contract, administrative, and water law legal professionals. This Attorney V will be a member of the legal office's team of natural resource attorneys, and will serve as one of the most senior legal advisors to the Assistant Chief Counsel, General Counsel, and Executive Staff at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), particularly with respect to the California Endangered Species Act (CESA), Landscape Conservation and Advance Mitigation programs, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and other related state natural resource laws. Counsel in this position will also serve as a mentor to and in a lead capacity over the work of other CDFW attorneys and staff. Working Conditions

 

Maintain normal and consistent work hours, averaging 40 hours per week. Work in excess of 40 hours per week is expected, when necessary, to complete assignments in a timely manner. Position may require the Incumbent to sit for long periods of time. Light lifting or reaching may be required, though reasonable accommodation may be provided upon request.
 

This position will be located in Sacramento. Some overnight travel may be required.

 

This position offers the possibility of an office-centered telework agreement based on the Department's current Telework Policy.
