Supervision: Reporting to Professor Chinny Ogunro, with additional guidance from senior Capstone project student

Position Overview:

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented research assistant to support the development of an innovative virtual tutoring application aimed at enhancing learning experiences for school-aged children in the UAE The project focuses on using cutting-edge technologies and educational methodologies to create a personalized, engaging, and effective virtual tutoring platform.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project at the intersection of education, technology, and research. The research assistant will assist specifically with app development, application testing, user experience (UX) design, reporting data as it relates to the app's virtual tutoring and educational technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, building, testing, and evaluation of the virtual tutoring app.
• Highlight relevant information on best practices in virtual tutoring and educational technologies.
• Collect and integrate data from user testing and feedback to improve the app’s functionality and effectiveness.
• Contribute to the development of educational content tailored to various age groups.
• Help refine the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of the app based on feedback.
• Provide support with any additional administrative tasks related to app development as required.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at NYUAD, preferably in Computer Science, BOS, Psychology, Education, or a related field.

Some interest in educational technology and virtual learning environments.

Basic knowledge or experience in programming, app development, or UX/UI design is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

An interest in innovation for education and the ability to think critically about user-centered design.

Experience working with school-aged children or in educational settings is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with educational research methods.

Knowledge of the UAE’s educational system and cultural context is an advantage.
