MU Games Area Customer Service Representative (CSR) (STDT2)

HIRING DEPT: MEMORIAL UNION

 

·        Background Check Required

·        Pay Rate: $16.75/hr. (includes .25 Prerequisite Training differential)

·        Must be able to work 8-12 hours per week (about 3-4 shifts) including late nights (2am facility closing), weekends, and most holidays.

 

Objective: We are hiring for the 2025-2026 academic year, with work starting September 10, 2025. Summer work is available and optional but requires a commitment to the academic year. Mandatory training will be held September 10-12 and September 15-16 in Davis. Attendance at all sessions is required.

 

Job Description

The Games Area is a recreational unit that operates within the Memorial Union that includes 12 bowling lanes, 7 billiard tables, 14 gaming PCs, 3 console gaming stations, and an open lobby. It is open 7 days per week and serves more than 200,000 visitors annually. 

This position will be the face of the Games Area unit to the student community and general public and will place an emphasis on providing excellent customer service. Safety of our patrons and the security of the facility are at the forefront of this position’s responsibilities, especially during late evening shifts. 

Duties also included with this position are assisting clientele with all facets of our services, including cashiering, answering phones, renting out materials/equipment/facility for our game offerings. Cleaning and janitorial duties are also required. May require lifting up to 50 pounds or assisting in maneuvering equipment weighing up to 400 pounds. 

This position is a Mandated Reporter and must follow all University policies regarding the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). 

 

Hours: variable, around class schedule. 

 

Required Qualifications

● Customer service skills to work on a service/information desk, answering phones, responding to questions, and being a welcoming and knowledgeable presence to all visitors. 

● Teamwork skills to complete projects and coordinate events. Collaboration skills to work as a part of a large and diverse group. 

● Cashiering skills to accurately handle transactions, count in/out, assist in deposits, and notify supervisors in case of discrepancies. 

● Ability to maintain a clean and safe work area/facility. 

● Must be able to work an estimated average of 8-12 hours per week (about 3-4 shifts) including late nights (2am facility closing), weekends, and most holidays. 

● Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. 

● Background check required 

 

Recommended Qualifications

● Previous work or volunteering experience in a bowling/gaming facility. 

● Familiarity with bowling/billiards/consoles/PC games/board games.
