Salary: $16.75/hr. (This includes a .25 Difficulty in Recruiting/Retention differential.)
Objective:
We are hiring for the 2025-2026 academic year, with work starting September 10, 2025. Summer work is available and optional but requires a commitment to the academic year. Mandatory training will be held September 10-12 and September 15-16 in Davis. Attendance at all sessions is required.
Job Purpose:
To provide friendly and competent service to students, visitors, meeting clients and stakeholders in the Memorial Union. Working at the MU Information Desk, the position provides directions and information, supports table and room reservations, and supports building operations. This position assists the many students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors that flow through the Memorial Union.

Job Description:
The Memorial Union complex welcomes UC Davis students, faculty, staff and the community serving as a dynamic and inviting center from which campus life flows and fosters a culture of engagement and community through its lounges and event spaces. The MU Information Desk strives to be a friendly service hub helping the many students, staff, and faculty, as well as community members that visit the Memorial Union for study space, eating, leisure time with friends or hosting a meeting or event.
Under the direction of the Memorial Union Director, the Information Desk Attendant (IDA) works at the Information Desk during its open hours, as well as supports meetings, special events and MU programming. The position uses creative problem-solving techniques to make referrals for a wide range of inquiries, complete tasks, including research and database entry, maintain lost and found, track current information on events and services both on campus and in the community, and coordinate tabling requests. Under the lead of the MU Building Manager, this position assists with opening and closing the Memorial Union, resetting indoor and outdoor lounge and meeting room furniture. Assists with maintaining and setting up equipment and facilities including but not limited to restrooms, hammocks on the quad, washing the outdoor patio tables. Other duties as assigned.
When an urgent issues or emergency arises this position supports the Building Manager (who acts as the first responder) by calling 911 when needed and appropriate.
Position is a mandatory reporter for known or suspected child abuse and requires that a statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse be signed.

Work Schedule:
Variable to be arranged, daily, year-round, summer, and academic year. Scheduled as necessary to cover open hours.

● Must be dependable and punctual.
● Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
● Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word and Excel as well as Google Programs: Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms
● Must be able to work a flexible and varied schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays and academic breaks.
