Kauai Resilience Project Coordinator
Summary: Reporting to the CEO, the Coordinator is responsible for the day to day coordination of the initiative. This person will engage diverse groups of individuals to pursue collective action through the alignment of efforts across different sectors and communities to achieve distinct goals of the KRP Action Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with current collaborative projects with local nonprofits and schools through 2025
- convene and facilitate regular meetings of working groups to increase access to afterschool programs, safe community spaces for youth, and life skills/SEL.
- maintaining consistent communication with partners and sharing meeting outcomes
- collaborating with the CEO, refine goals for the KRP Action Plan - facilitate discussion with partner organizations to align their work for greater impact and to identify and address gaps in services, those served, geography, etc.
- meeting with potential new members or volunteers regarding ideas for projects, emerging needs in the community for youth.
- building and maintaining partner relationships strategically
- supporting data collection and reporting efforts for an afterschool access data platform
- documenting and sharing out meeting minutes with partners and other stakeholders
- Participate in organizing several events each year to promote our messages to the community
- Assisting with the development and dissemination of our annual parent survey or youth surveys
- Assist with evaluation activities for the initiative. Collect photos, sign in sheets, surveys, and other documentation of meetings and events.
- Provide summary reports twice yearly for initiative partners and other stakeholders to be included in our newsletter.
- Work with Marketing help to disseminate information about the initiative to the community.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skills and Experience
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and comfortability with running meetings online as well as in person
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural/community sensitivity
- The ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders of all backgrounds, institutions, and roles, from CEOs to youth
- Strong project and time management skills – Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple projects with ease and effectiveness, while maximizing shared visibility and accountability for stakeholders
- Strong time management skills
- Able to navigate conflict among stakeholders maturely and diplomatically
- Experience in leading groups and facilitating group work to fruition, leading collaborative projects from start to finish
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience including 1 or more years of community outreach and facilitation/coordination/project management experience
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong community engagement and facilitation skills;

- Knowledge
- Intimate knowledge of Kauai social and historical dynamics, communities, major stakeholders, and cultures, and how they impact service provision today
- Knowledge of social issues such as child or youth development, health, education, or mental health, and familiarity with models of youth development.
- Existing relationships with, or ability to build relationships with, a cross-sectoral range of stakeholders from across Kauai, senior executives to community members and youth
- Knowledge of collective impact model or best practices for effective collaboration a plus
- Skilled at MS office applications, ability to discern quality information from the internet and learn new concepts in the field of youth mental health
About the Position: This position is funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a federal agency, via support from Senator’s Schatz and Hirono. It is anticipated the position will be funded through December of 2025 but is subject to the continued availability of federal funding. The position is 40 hours per week non-exempt. Full health and dental benefits are offered. Our office is located in Lihue. Significant travel in the community is expected and mileage will be reimbursed. Salary range is between $60,000-$75,000 dependent on experience.
