Dono Vivo LLC Internship Project
Goal: To create additional salable products from the now “waste” generated from the production of finished human biological products, for example plasma.
Needs/Considerations of projects:
- The intern working on this project should be comfortable handling human biologicals and preferably be vaccinated against Hepatitis B; a waiver is otherwise required.
- Understand what work has been done to date in the investigation into creating additional products to achieve the goal
- Research and document the process and limiting factors of extracting additional derivatives from whole blood collections
- Assess tools and or knowledge needed for success
- Propose and test solutions to create additional products given the limiting factors
- Work with the collection team to plan and execute the process(es) by which the extractions will be tested and refined
- Articulate the
- Tools required
- Labor required
- Additional raw materials required
- Volume produced by unit on average
- Shelf life
- Protocol for future lab members to use for production
- Work with leadership to ensure tools and skills are present
- Determine total cost
- If exclusively collected from the whole blood
- If collected from the remnants of a plasma production
- Assess volume requirements to sustain Innovative Research total production needs by working with the customer service and purchasing teams
- Work to identify:
- What % of total requirements can be achieved through internal processing
- What should be planned and at what rate
- How the product should be described
- Any unique characteristics of the product to highlight
- Any shipping restrictions (any international issues to consider)
- Value of the collection
- Delivery schedule for shipping/order fulfillment
- Alternatively – Indicate why one or more of the derivatives cannot be produced with data to support
- How the new derivative should be recognized and recorded in LIMS
- Any marketing to be done to reinforce its availability
- Present at the end of your time your experience, what went well, what didn’t, and what you take away for the time with Innovative Research.
