We’re looking for a few Summer Youth Development Professionals to 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. No degree required, but if you’ve got one—that's a bonus! What matters most is your passion for making a real impact on youth ages 5-12!

Summary 

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for creating an experience for youth that facilitates fun, innovation, inclusivity, and creativity with an emphasis on healthy lifestyles, good character and leadership, and academic success. This position must be invested in youth and have a desire to be a positive role model. YDPs must understand that Boys & Girls Club staff have the opportunity to be with the same youth for a number of years and respect the responsibility that comes with the potential for making a positive impact on so many lives. 

The YDP will work with Lead Youth Development Professionals, volunteers, and other staff to follow policy and procedures that promote the safety of members, ensuring high quality of programs all while projecting a positive image of Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes.

Education and Other Requirements 

Must be 16 years or older 

Prompt & Reliable Attendance  

One (1) or more years of experience working with youth is preferred 

The ability and desire to work with youths 3-18 years of age in a variety of recreational and social environments 

Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills 

Must possess a proactive attitude towards problem-solving 

Ability to motivate youth and work with the team to manage behavior concerns 

Ability to implement high quality programs for youth 

Ability to organize and supervise children in a safe, nurturing environment 

Must be able to work effectively with staff, youth, parents, local community leaders, schools, and others  

Should be physically fit to engage in Club programs 

Pass a background check
