Accounting Intern

The Town of Dudley is seeking a qualified candidate to serve in the role of Accounting Intern within the Accounting Department. This is a part-time, temporary position offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in municipal accounting. The intern will work exactly 120 hours, with the internship scheduled to run from approximately April 1 to June 30, 2025. Under the direct supervision of the Town Accountant, the Accounting Intern will assist with a variety of administrative and accounting-related tasks. The intern will support the Town Accountant and Assistant Town Accountant by performing basic data entry, filing, organizing financial records, and other routine accounting duties. This role provides an opportunity to help the department with essential tasks while full-time staff focus on more technical work. This is a Grade 1 position with a pay rate of $16.94/hour. A minimum of a High School degree or equivalent apprenticeship-level knowledge is required. One (1) year of related work experience in an office environment is preferred, though any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered. Perform basic data entry for accounting records and documents. 2. File and organize financial documents, including invoices and receipts. 3. Assist in organizing records for budget preparation, monthly reports, and other departmental documents. 4. Help prepare financial reports by gathering and organizing necessary data. 5. Maintain and update departmental accounting files according to established procedures. 6. Assist with grant reporting and other routine accounting tasks as needed. 7. Perform other clerical duties, such as photocopying, scanning, and document management.
