Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Assistant Program Coordinator
SUMMARY STATEMENT
The mission of the Delaware State Parks YCC Program is to engage participants in important conservation and park projects while providing learning that fosters teamwork, self-esteem, social responsibility and respect for the environment.
Youth Programming core components include:
· Practical job work experience
· Environmental education and experiences
· Job and/or college preparation.
This is a leadership position for applicants at least 20 years of age with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Parks and Recreation. The person selected for this position will assist the Program Manager in all aspects of coordinating and operating the 2025 summer YCC (Youth Conservation Corps) program. Specifically, duties include daily supervision of assigned program participants, coordination of education days, participant and team transportation, assisting with Team Leader training, and daily liaison for field YC teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates and completes park-based projects
- Assists with interviewing, training, and supervising team members
- Helps coordinate and implement weekly education curriculum, including transportation of members to education sites
- Assists in grant and program tracking through timely submission of all reports
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Complete projects in all weather and uneven terrain.
- Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license
- Must transport team members to project site using program provided FLEET vehicle, adhering to all vehicle safety guidelines
- Must be able to walk a minimum of a mile in uneven terrain.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday – Some evening or weekend hours may be required
- Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
