Business Operations Intern

Job Overview: The Business Operations Intern will participate in a dynamic, rotational program across three key departments: Human Resources (HR), Information Technology (IT), and Finance. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to different operational functions within a fast-growing biotechnology company. The intern will work closely with each department to support day-to-day operations, contribute to key projects, and learn the intricacies of HR, IT, and Finance in a biotechnology environment. This hands-on experience will foster professional growth, skill development, and insight into how these departments work together to drive the company's success.

 

Essential Functions:

 

HR Rotation:

  • Shadow with current HR employees to gain understanding of HR operations, compliance, etc.
  • Covering basics of training and development, recruitment, etc.
  • Contribute to HR projects focused on employee engagement, training, and compliance.

IT Rotation:

  • Support the IT team with troubleshooting and resolving internal technical issues (hardware/software).
  • Assist in the maintenance of IT systems, including user account management and network troubleshooting.
  • Participate in the rollout of new technologies and IT solutions to improve business operations.
  • Help monitor and maintain cybersecurity practices and support the company’s data privacy efforts.

Finance Rotation:

  • Assist with basic accounting tasks, such as processing invoices, managing budgets, and tracking financial transactions.
  • Support the finance team with financial reporting, including data entry and reconciliation tasks.
  • Help prepare financial models, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
  • Assist in the analysis of financial data and assist with financial planning and budgeting.

Cross-Functional Tasks:

  • Work collaboratively with department leaders to help streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with internal communications and ensure accurate record-keeping across HR, IT, and Finance systems.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvement.

 

This internship program is designed to offer hands-on exposure across departments, allowing for a well-rounded understanding of business operations within the biotechnology sector. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in business operations or one of the specific departments: HR, IT, or Finance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with HRIS, CRM, or financial software is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
