Systems Engineer (IT)

Position Overview:

Vericut’s IT systems are critical to our success, enabling both employees and customers to operate efficiently. We are seeking a motivated Systems Administrator eager to apply and expand their technical expertise to help maintain our industry-leading position and support future growth. In this role, you will provide IT support to end-users, manage systems and endpoints, onboard new employees, implement and maintain software and hardware, and contribute to IT infrastructure projects. Our ideal candidate is passionate about technology and committed to ensuring seamless business operations through effective IT solutions. The successful candidate must be able to commute to our Irvine HQ on a hybrid remote work schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain core IT systems, including operating systems, security tools, laptops, desktops, software, and other hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently while communicating effectively with users and teams.
  • Perform systems administration tasks, such as user/group management, security permissions, group policies, print services, event log monitoring, and resource allocation to ensure seamless system functionality.
  • Manage internal infrastructure, including laptops, desktops, security updates, intranet, email, web applications, antivirus software, telecommunications, and file/printing services.
  • Deploy company software, including office and CAD/CAM applications, using automated methods.
  • Support collaboration tools, such as GoToMeeting and Microsoft Teams.
  • Deploy new laptops and desktops using disk imaging and scripted deployment methods. Manage system upgrades and scheduled hardware refreshes.
  • Onboard new employees, including system setup, account creation, and initial IT support.
  • Maintain and develop technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies.
  • Provide end-user support via email, phone, and virtual collaboration tools (GoToMeeting/Teams).
  • Conduct routine system audits based on vulnerability assessments.
  • Ensure system security through timely updates, patches, and proper permission management.
  • Manage and deploy mobile training laptops and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Proven IT work experience in a technical support or system administration role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, asset management tools, antivirus software, endpoint management, and security solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with VMware, Linux, and cybersecurity.
  • Experience with scripting for task automation.
  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, IT, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant certifications, such as MCSE, Server+, or Network+.
