Associate Consultant (Analyst I)

This is an entry-level position that includes both business analysis and technical aspects. It focuses on documenting user requirements for and configuring commercial laboratory software such as electronic lab notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Associate Consultants also provide support for these systems and report to a lead consultant who will train them on the methodologies necessary for the position.
Ideal candidate: A strong background in science as well as technical aptitude. Eagerness to learn new skills, both technical and soft skills. Customer service experience is helpful. The ability to speak with scientists and understand the concepts they describe is a key aspect of this role.
Location: This is a remote/work-from-home position; however, we are seeking qualified candidates in the following U.S. locations:
Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and California (San Diego County only).
Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of troubleshooting laboratory software support issues.
• Work with lead consultants, application vendors, and client IT groups to resolve issues.
• Work with client stakeholders to develop requirements for new or additional functionality in lab software systems.
• Configure and support the implementation of laboratory software through the user interface.
• Automate data flows.
• Assist in the development and delivery of user training for lab software systems.
Requirements:
• A degree in biology, molecular biology, life sciences, biological engineering, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, etc.
• Experience working in a lab environment.
• Critical thinking skills: Problem-solving mindset and detail-oriented approach.
• Strong attention to detail in all position areas, including software configuration, documentation, and handling client data and deliverables, to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and quality.
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite / MS Teams / Slack / Google Workspace / Zoom.
• Proficiency with Excel formulas and functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time and task management skills.
• Ability to understand and adhere to procedures and policies.
• Ability to understand complex scientific processes such as NGS, RNA/DNA techniques, in vivo, protein engineering, etc.
• Ability to work effectively from your home environment.
Nice to have:
• Industry experience in the biotech, biopharma, or life sciences industries.
• Customer service experience.
• Understanding of business requirements and scientific data.
• Understanding of relational databases.
• Experience with an ELN/LIMS such as Benchling, Labguru, Sapio, etc.
• Experience with lab automation using API endpoints and ETL tools.
• Experience with diagramming tools such as Lucidchart.
• Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet.
• Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio Code, Pycharm
• Experience with git version control with BitBucket, GitHub
• Experience with programming languages such as Python 3.x, Java, C++, Javascript
• Experience with SaaS/Cloud infrastructure and related services such as AWS Lambda, EC2, ECR, and Eventbridge.
Salary: $75,000.00
