Human Resources Director I

The mission of the South Carolina State Accident Fund is to provide cost-effective, guaranteed workers’ compensation insurance for state agencies and other governmental entities along with exceptional service to our state workers.

The South Carolina State Accident Fund is the leading provider of workers' compensation insurance in South Carolina. Since 1943, the State Accident Fund has provided a continuous guaranteed source of cost effective workers' compensation coverage. Today we serve nearly 600 employers and 200,000 state and local government employees throughout the state. Within the State Accident Fund, the Uninsured Employers Fund (UEF) administers benefits as determined by the SC Workers' Compensation Commission for employers who fail to secure proper workers' compensation coverage for their businesses.

The Human Resources Director I will:

  • Manage the agency classification and compensation program and employee recruitment.
  • Support State Accident Fund staff by establishing a recruiting, testing and interviewing program.
  • Counsel managers on candidate selection, conducting and analyzing exit interviews and recommending changes.
  • Be responsible for HR policy and procedures updates; along with providing guidance and information to all levels of State Accident Fund management regarding the interpretation/administration of HR policies and procedures, in accordance with federal and state law and/or State Accident Fund policies.
  • Be responsible for employee relations activities for the agencies.
  • Provide oversight and recommendation to staff by identifying trends in disciplinary and performance activities.
  • Be responsible for the coordination of grievances complaints, and SC Human Affairs Commission complaints.
  • Develop, evaluate, implement, and provide a variety of HR related training and/or information for all levels of employees.
  • Create and modify policies to comply with safety and agency practices.
  • Develop trainings and assist with the implementation of the employee career path program. Such courses involve harassment, hazardous communication, cyber security, and various on-line training.
  • Maintain paperwork, and documents related to all employees.

 

This position may require use of a state vehicle and in-state travel.
