Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Agriculture Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The team focuses on weed control research trials in many different specialty crops including blueberry, cranberry, vegetables, tree fruit, and wine grapes. The experiments often take place at multiple research centers and growers’ farms throughout New Jersey. This job provides great lab and greenhouse experience, as well, for those looking to boost their resume for future jobs or graduate school. Working on traditional herbicide research trials along with various novel technology to control weeds with AI, electrical weeders, robotics, and vision guided spray systems. 

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Assists in the design and monitoring of weed science field experiments on vegetable crops as well as data collection related to these trials at the Rutgers Agricultural Research Extension Station.
  • Plot design/set-up, lab/greenhouse work.
  • Experimental rating and grading.
  • Plants and harvests crops.
  • Aids in hand weeding.
  • Uses basic farm and hand tools.
