Internship Opportunity: Development Intern (with Fundraising & Event Support), Boise ID
Duration: May – August 2025
Location: Idaho Botanical Garden, Boise ID

Internship Overview:
As an intern, you’ll have the chance to work alongside the Garden’s development team, supporting our membership program and securing donations for our annual fundraising event. You’ll gain valuable insights into both the technical side of development and the strategic aspects of fundraising, event planning, and donor engagement.
What You’ll Learn:
- Database management: Hands-on experience with real-world development tasks, including processing memberships and tracking donations with Blackbaud Altru.
- Fundraising Strategy & Development: Learn how to create and implement effective fundraising strategies that support a cause. Gain experience in building member and donor relations.
- Event Planning & Coordination: Work alongside our team to organize and execute our annual fundraising event in September, including soliciting and picking up donations.
- Project Management: Collaborate in an agile environment to meet deadlines and ensure successful completion of both development tasks and fundraising goals.
- Nonprofit Industry Knowledge: Develop a deeper understanding of how nonprofits leverage events and technology to fund their missions.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with software development tasks, such as tracking and processing the Garden’s memberships.
- Provide support in event planning and coordination, including soliciting donations, working with sponsors/partners, and coordinating logistics.
- Engage with the team to brainstorm creative solutions and improvements to fundraising initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on how to improve both the development process and event effectiveness.
- Assist in tracking and reporting on event fundraising progress, evaluating event performance, and recommending enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- Strong interest in fundraising and nonprofit development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Passionate about fundraising.
- Prior experience or coursework related to event planning, fundraising, or donor engagement is a plus, but not required.
- Must have valid driver's license and can travel locally
