People's Agroecology School Summer Internship - Hardwick and Craftsbury, Vermont
People’s Agroecology School Summer Internship
20 hours/week
June 7-Aug 15, 2025
The People’s Agroecology School of Vermont (PASV) was founded in 2022 inspired by and in partnership with a global network of agroecology schools of La Via Campesina (LVC). We aim to facilitate educational experiences that foster people's self-transformation into land-based organizers and stewards of social and ecological change. The PASV has three main focus areas. First, technical agroecological training & education, facilitated by local farmer-leaders through farmer-to-farmer exchanges and work brigades that promote knowledge for climate resilient farming through mutual aid. Second, local, national, & international opportunities for farmer exchange, most recently demonstrated by our “Short Course in People’s Agroecology” this past Fall 2024 (media here). Lastly, political education training & formation through day-long workshops, speaker-events, and other opportunities for learning within our community. While being connected to and strengthened by broad agroecology networks and the global movement for food sovereignty through membership with La Via Campesina, the PASV is led by and focused on addressing the needs of agrarian communities based in Vermont. We accomplish this through ongoing organizing efforts as well as the connection we have to our host organization: Rural Vermont, a farmer-led group dedicated to grassroots organizing for agrarian social change since 1985.
Because the PASV is collectively run, with no full-time staffers, added capacity this summer will be a big contribution to our presence both in the community and behind the scenes.
