Mechanical Engineer

About the Role
Our custom electric car company is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the team in the journey to help shape the future of transportation. As Henry Ford stated in his autobiography, "...work and work alone that can continue to deliver the goods that, down in his heart, is what every man and woman knows."

Job Summary:

Design and build mechanical and motion systems as needed to meet the requirements of the design goal. Work as part of a team working on a common goal. Work closely with the Design Engineer to design and create systems that work well together. You will collaborate with the founder and manufacturing team to create both functional and innovative products.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including Sheet Metal, Weldments, Surfacing, and Simulation modules
  • Work with the team to develop and fabricate initial components
  • Work efficiently with the team and autonomously
  • Work with the Designer and Fabricator to build prototypes
  • Development of the electric powertrain and safety systems
  • Daily and weekly Vertical Value Stream meetings to stay on task
  • Cleaning work areas
  • Assist in the development of the manufacturing assembly line

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Friendly, punctual, reliable, and a positive attitude
  • Passionate about Elkington Electric's vision
  • Come up with improvements, eliminate waste in your area, and video before and after
  • Keep the area clean and have an organized work environment
  • Ability to lift & carry 50 pounds

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in automotive engineering

Required Preparation for Employment:

  • Provide a portfolio for review
  • Listen to 2 Second Lean: https://paulakers.net/books/2-second-lean within the first week of employment
  • Able to use common hand tools and power tools (e.g., drills, wrenches, clamps, etc.)
  • Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility
  • Required to be able to read documents and prints and specifications

 

Salary: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
