We enhance the quality of life for the people in our community by supporting the places that make the Richmond Region wonderful.  We strengthen local programs that drive tourism through our Richmond Region Tourism Foundation and we do all of this through a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion. The Richmond Region includes the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and New Kent as well as the city of Richmond, the city of Colonial Heights and town of Ashland. Richmond Region Tourism's primary funding comes from a tax (transient lodging tax) that hotel guests pay on lodging.

Primary Responsibilities and skills needed include:

Communication:

  • Be creative in promoting authentic experiences to convention goers and visitors alike.
  • Be professional with internal department staff, visitors, clients,and stakeholders including front desk professionals, hotel general managers, elected officials, and business owners.
  • Meet deadlines and provide timely updates on assigned projects.

Customer Service:

  • Assist with all aspects of Richmond Region Tourism departments (Community Relations/Workforce Development, Visitor Experience, Marketing, Destination Sales).
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all written and verbal communications.

Critical Thinking/Problem Solving:

  • Complete tasks independently.
  • Develop confidence with decision making and problem solving.
  • Demonstrate decision making skills.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks and work with different personalities.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, handling multiple deadlines.
  • Confidently share creative ideas and perspectives.
  • Inclusive and equitable in word and action.

20-hours/week May - August

Other information: Access to own independent and reliable transportation, prefer use of your own laptop but an Office365 account and email will be provided.  Driving record will be checked, as well as a confirmation of personal automobile insurance.
