We are hiring a Communications Summer Student for a full-time paid internship located in Glendale, AZ.
In this role, you will support the Public Affairs/Communications team in executing integrated communication strategies that elevate and protect EPCOR’s brand, reputation, and business. You will assist with public relations, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, customer relations, and employee communication strategies. Additionally, you will help with content development, event coordination, social media management, media relations, and reporting.
What you’d be responsible for:
- Assist the public affairs and communications team with the execution of public relations, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, customer relations, and employee communication strategies
- Assist with writing, editing, and distributing compelling content for various materials, including newsletters, press releases, internal announcements, promotional materials, and social media
- Support community partner and industry-related events through event coordination, logistics oversight, and volunteer support
- Help manage editorial calendars, deploy content, and monitor social media channels; support team in deploying timely content across internal digital platforms
- Monitor relevant news sources, help identify proactive media opportunities, and support media outreach activities
- Draft internal reports to summarize news coverage, planning and large-scale meetings, event outcomes, and other initiatives as required

What’s required to be successful:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications or public relations
- Demonstrate a high-performance, high-discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative, and achievement-oriented manner of working
- Creative, collaborative, and results-driven approach with the ability to build relationships and work with employees at all levels of the organization
- Effective communication skills with superior attention to details – ability to develop, write, and edit communications materials targeted at different audiences and using varied channels
- Excellent planning, project and event management, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multi-faceted, complex projects under tight deadlines
- Experience using social media and other digital/engagement platforms as an asset
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Works collaboratively with team members and mentors
- Communicates effectively in both verbal and written formats
- Eager to learn and apply new skills
