ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary

 

The Project Manager position at the City of Tucson’s Department of Transportation & Mobility manages multimodal transportation projects from initiation through conceptual design within the Planning Division. The Project Manager provides oversight and support for the City of Tucson’s Share Micro-Mobility program and participates in both regional and local planning efforts for transportation projects. 

 

Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager. This position does not supervise.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Initiates projects by outlining and documenting the project scope and potential timelines. Works closely with project teams to ensure the City of Tucson’s interests and regulations are being met for all transportation planning initiatives. Creates presentations using Office applications to submit project plans. Manages project budgets by tracking costs to ensure that project funds are being allocated correctly. Attends public planning meetings by coordinating public engagement efforts to gather information for project scope. Reviews project design and coordination of project with Engineering Project Managers. 

Reviews agreements with bike share operator and e-scooter program personnel to ensure program is within scope. Collaborates with e-scooter vendors and operators to ensure compliance with relevant agreements. Drives to various bike share locations to review on-site plans as needed. 

Represents the City of Tucson in long-range plans and other transportation planning efforts as well as participates and leads local multimodal planning efforts. Engages with Ward specific programs to assist with educating about program plans. Attends meetings with the public and program committees to understand the need of project and programs.  

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned 

 

Work Environment 

  • Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Three (3) years of directly related experience
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Plan Review, Project Management, Anthropology and Archeology, Land Surveying and Mapping   
Bachelor or master’s degree in landscape architecture. 
American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) Traffic Control Supervisor Certification. 
International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist certification. 
Registered as a Landscape Architect in the State of Arizona
