Parks Supevisor
Responsibilities
This is responsible administrative, supervisory, and facility maintenance work, managing Riverbend Park. Work involves:
- Maintaining the level of operating efficiency necessary to ensure the health, safety/welfare, and enjoyment of park patrons and staff.
- Work requires turf, landscaping, invasive plant management, and facility maintenance knowledge, and planning, supervisory, purchasing, and scheduling skills.
- Assists with the facilitation of programs/services.
- Responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of skilled/semi-skilled staff, and Land Management Assistants including set-up/clean-up, program implementation, overseeing participant illness/injury, and discipline.
- Coordinates projects and other maintenance work with outside agencies and other sections within the Parks Department.
- Issues counseling forms and disciplinary actions; handles public and employee complaints and grievances; recommends the hiring, termination, and promotion of staff. Maintains attendance, fiscal, and other records. Prepares payroll and keeps personnel records.
- Uses MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Internet Explorer, social media sites, and customized Parks software.
- Answers questions, and explains applicable policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing.
- Meets with the public, other departments, and agencies to coordinate the use of park facilities and to maintain public relations.
- Work is performed with considerable independence within the scope of departmental rules and regulations with work performance being reviewed by a Park Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience in park operations and maintenance, grounds keeping, or related work including two (2) years of related experience directing the work of subordinate personnel.
Necessary Special Requirement:Must obtain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary CPR/AED Certification within 6 (six) months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Historical park maintenance; Archeology; natural area management; purchasing and payroll software.
