Medical Assistant / Ophthalmic Technician
The Ophthalmic Technician uses ophthalmic techniques to perform the preliminary work-up of patients, assists the physician(s) during the patient examination and documents the patient encounter in the patients electronic medical record as communicated by the physician.
Full-time Position = 40hrs / week
- Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care.
- Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories and special testing.
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used and will report irregularities of such to the floor monitor or immediate supervisor.
- Instill Eye Drops
- Clean and stock exam rooms as needed.
- Check expiration dates on medications.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are an essential function
- Accurately performs:
- OCT
- Tonometry with a Perkins and Tonopen
- Visual Acuity
- Amsler Grid Testing
- Muscle Testing
- Pupil Exams
- Confrontation Visual Field Exam
- Attends staff meetings as required. When unable to attend will refer to the agenda and meetings notes. Travel to other ARC locations may be required.
