IT Operations Intern

SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The IT Operations (IT Ops) intern will support the IT Ops department in supporting OF end-user hardware devices, applications and virtual desktop infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to working on existing Help Desk tickets, assisting with technical and infrastructure projects and research/documentation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  • Assist with IT Help Desk ticket resolution by applying existing procedures or performing research to resolve new issues.
  • Assist with monitoring end-user systems, perform daily health checks and address issues when necessary.
  • Assist with hardware equipment migrations, installations, configurations and disassembly.
  • Assist with optimizing existing procedures by scripting manual tasks or researching tools and techniques to address identified gaps in procedures and services.
  • Attend intern meetings and complete tasks provided by Human Resources.
  • Support the OF’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy by following policies and procedures that ensure opportunities for employees and diverse business partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

PRINCIPAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, a high attention to detail, be very organized, and self- motivated.
  • Experience with general office software and operating systems, ability to utilize logic to troubleshoot issues and have the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Ability to listen and integrate ideas from diverse views, build and maintain respectful relationships, collaborate with others, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Schedule flexibility to work in Reston or remotely as necessary.
