HFS Marketing Student Videographer/Photographer

Position Summary

The Student Videographer/Photographer serves as a contributing member of the Communications and Marketing team and supports the goals and activities of Housing & Food Services (HFS) through collaboration with many team members. Work will include shooting and editing video, storyboarding, photography, and assisting with social media content and strategy for various HFS units.

This opportunity is ideal for students with an interest in marketing, communications, videography, photography, and storytelling. Students will receive authentic experience in a professional environment, including direction and feedback from the Communications and Marketing team.

Responsibilities

Create video and photo content for HFS, including on-campus retail and residential dining restaurants and cafes, markets, catering, Residential Life events and activities, and business operations.

Coordinate assigned marketing projects, working collaboratively with the Communications and Marketing team on brand/image, alignment with the Department’s and University’s vision and values, messaging, communications, information design, graphics and photography, ensuring deadlines are met.

Perform related duties as required.

 

Qualifications

Current UW Seattle-campus student with interest in video, photography, communications, business, marketing, and/or social media.

Experience with digital audio, video, and still photography capture devices, including DSLR cameras is preferred.

Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines and exercise good judgment in a dynamic environment.

Ability to represent HFS professionally and to communicate comfortably with students, faculty and staff while working.

Ability to function independently and as a team member.

Flexibility and availability to work evenings/weekends as needed to capture events on campus.

A desire to learn, a strong passion for creativity, and a willingness to have fun!

Strong computer skills, with Microsoft Office Suite experience.

Knowledge of social media trends.

 

Collaboration Responsibilities    

This position will work closely with the entire Communications and Marketing team, including other student employees, and will receive direction from a unit Manager.  

Position Complexities

This position will work 0–19.5 hours per week and will work to meet project goals and subsequent deadlines. Additional duties may be assigned for special events that occur within or outside a regular work schedule.

 

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an open office setting with noise and other distractions, as well as various indoor and outdoor locations on the UW campus.

This position may travel on foot or by vehicle to campus locations.

This position does not maintain regular office hours at the outset. The work hours will be determined by consultation with the Manager to accommodate the student’s class schedule.
