Student Assistant in Agricultural Research
The successful student assistant candidate will provide support to the Farm Manager and Assistant Manager with the research activities involved with potato production. Additionally, the student will be involved with all the farming activities carried out at the San Luis Valley Research Center (CSU). The summer work experience will be located in Center, CO at the agricultural research station under the supervision of Mr. Dario Racano and Mr. Zach Czarnecki. Working hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday - Friday). The position will start in May, 2025 and it will end in July/August 2025. The summer position is full time, fully paid.

Duties:
- Assist the assistant manager/research project manager as needed in the day-to-day basic operations, research activities and project management of the research field trials.
- Assist the farm manager with planting and crop management of the potato crop fields.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining filed research plots; taking extensive observations of crop parameters.
- Field data collection/data entry, soil/plant samples collection, processing soil samples, plant disease screening and plant diagnostic.
- Helping in supervising a field crew during the potato crop weeding or other farming activities.
- Helping with potato crop harvesting procedures.
- Carrying out diligently and responsibly any work assigned by the farm manager or assistant manager of the San Luis Valley Research Center (SLVRC).
