The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is committed to effectively delivering essential Public Health services through strong and effective Partnerships. CDPH strives to be a learning, healing, and impactful organization, with the Program Support Division (PSD) providing Program assistance to the Department in that mission.
The Purchasing and Solicitations Section serves CDPH through the development and execution of competitive solicitations and contracts. Some of our recent projects include services supporting nursing facility certification, suicide prevention, employee trauma response, Department lean improvement, Richmond Laboratory support, and public health reporting tools.
The PSD is in downtown Sacramento in the East End Complex within a mile of the Golden 1 Center, SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center, and the State Capitol. Additionally, there are a half dozen coffee shops and multiple Michelin recognized restaurants within a 10-minute walk (less if you utilize CDPH's Bikeshare Program).
Employment in the Student Assistant (SA) classification is based on continued enrollment in a college program. Candidates must submit proof of current or future enrollment prior to appointment to the position.
The SA supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by assisting in a variety of duties related to the Purchasing and Solicitations Section that will provide the incumbent with job experience in tasks related to their field of study. In a training capacity, the SA will perform a variety of technical and administrative functions and tasks for the encumbrances of CDPH programs. The SA will assist in processing encumbrance transactions for various procurement types/methods, including, but not limited to creating new encumbrances, processing dis-encumbrance requests, processing change order requests, and dispatching purchase orders. This position may require traveling up to 5%.
