Founding Engineer – AI & Full-Stack Developer

Position is remote but Northern California candidates preferred. HQ is in Berkeley, CA.

As a Founding Engineer, you’ll drive product development and have a major say in technical decisions. Your work will directly impact how users interact with AI to build professional relationships and unlock job opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own core development of our web application, optimizing for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Develop AI-powered social capital tools, integrating LLMs (Hume.ai, Anthropic Sonnet) to enhance career networking experiences.
  • Build & refine the front-end using React, Next.js (on Vercel), and API-driven architectures.
  • Collaborate on prompt engineering to fine-tune AI-generated responses and user interactions.
  • Integrate AI with UX & design tools, working closely with front-end engineers and designers leveraging V0.
  • Optimize workflows with modern dev tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and other AI-powered coding assistants.
  • Ensure high code quality through rigorous testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews.
  • Iterate rapidly based on user feedback from pilots with learners, job seekers, and alumni.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a passionate, resourceful builder who’s excited about AI and eager to shape a high-impact product.

Minimum Qualifications:

✔ Experience with modern web development – Proficiency in React, Next.js, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
✔ Experience working with AI/LLMs – Ideally Hume.ai, OpenAI, or Anthropic to develop AI-driven user interactions.
✔ Hands-on experience with Vercel – Comfortable deploying and optimizing web applications.
✔ Strong API integration skills – Building and consuming REST/GraphQL APIs for dynamic applications.
✔ Familiarity with AI-enhanced coding tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
✔ Ability to work across the stack – While you won’t be handling everything alone, flexibility in handling both front-end and back-end tasks is key.
✔ Problem-solver mindset – You enjoy finding creative solutions and working autonomously in a fast-paced startup.

Nice to Have:

➕ Experience in AI-driven UX design or working with design tools like V0.
➕ Familiarity with databases and analytics tools like PostgreSQL, Firebase, or Metabase.
➕ Understanding of social capital theory and how AI can enhance professional networking.
