Stamford Central School District seeks a strong instructional leader with a successful record of achievement as a school leader or teacher who is an effective communicator and problem-solver committed to educational excellence for ALL students. The candidate must have a collaborative leadership style based on trust, integrity, and honesty.
Desired knowledge, experience, and qualifications include:
A student-centered and people-oriented leader who thrives on being highly visible, personable, approachable, and has a sense of humor.
An individual who understands the importance of a positive school culture and climate and can foster a supportive school environment which is team oriented and focused on student success.
An in-depth knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and how students learn.
Knowledge and experience with systems thinking for school improvement. This includes understanding the importance of an effective instructional continuum, effective professional development to drive student improvement, and the ability to provide strong instructional coaching to meet teaching and learning needs.
Knowledge of data-driven instructional practices to create rigorous academic standards for student achievement.
Strong knowledge and experience with NYSED Part 100 regulations, and Part 200 regulations and IDEA/504 for special education.
A strong instructional “toolkit” related to annual professional performance reviews (APPR) for supportive faculty feedback which assists in overall organizational improvement.
Supervises and consistently attends afterschool activities (athletic events, concerts, drama productions, banquets, etc.) and is involved in the school community.
Strong inter-personal relationship skills with the ability to distribute leadership showing confidence in faculty and staff; leads teacher committees that serve organizational programming needs (data, safety, digital, MTSS, etc.).
A leader who is an exceptional listener, reflective and self-aware, has the ability to take feedback, and is a confident speaker. Must have good written and oral communication skills.
Collaboratively plan and implement effective professional development to drive instructional practice to assist student learning.
Knowledge of 21st century classrooms and learners and the use of a digital curriculum and tools to meet NYS Learning Standards. Familiar with new graduation Pathways and NYS standards.
Knowledge and experience in collaboratively leading and overseeing a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) that addresses students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Ability to enforce education law, commissioner regulations, board policies, and the student code of conduct.
Ability to implement the student Code of Conduct promptly, efficiently, and consistently while following progressive discipline. The ability to create an environment and culture of behavioral learning while disciplining which creates mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with students.
Recruiting, selecting, and hiring highly effective teachers and support staff.
Master schedule development and coordination of NYS exam administration (3-8 and Regents).
Manage state and federal grants and reporting.
Knowledge and experience with budget development to support faculty and staff instructional programming needs.
Understand the needs of a small K-12 grade school district.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

CERTIFICATION: New York State certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS).
This position will be 10-months (+10 summer days) or a full-time 12-month position – negotiable. The position includes excellent health/dental plans and NYS retirement. Salary $80,000 minimum based on knowledge, experience, credentials, and skills (*and whether candidate contract is 10-months or 12- months).
